What is Sigma Chi?

Sigma Chi is a brotherhood that engenders a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice and the fulfillment of learning as part of our overall responsibilities to the broader communities in which we live.

We bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds to assist one another in the attainment of high-minded goals.

Sigma Chi offers a host of social life rewards, but it does so in the context of molding good character within its members.

We offer an avenue for brothers to develop an appreciation of lifelong learning in order to gain knowledge, wisdom and character.

One, and the main, aim and object of Sigma Chi has been, and is, to develop and train broad-minded men who can recognize the wholeness of things and who are not bound down to a contracted, eight-by-ten notion of exclusiveness. There is an absolute necessity for such men.

"When I became a Sigma Chi it was great, because they were the people I enjoyed being with and I was very proud of the association. I had always been very shy and without a lot of confidence. So, it was a really good social experience and for me it was also a social maturation. It was a great benefit." - Ball State University, 1969

"What you do in life by yourself doesn't mean as much as what you accomplish with a group of people. Sigma Chi was one of the greatest things that happened to me. I really appreciate what it has done for me in my lifetime, and I hope I can continue to give something back." - Pittsburgh, 1961
